Reference by Grindrod
Grindrod has partnered with specialist stevedoring companies to provide services at all ports in South Africa.
Grindrod Stevedores, previously known as Bay Stevedores, have entered a co-operation agreement with Vukuzenzele Stevedoring Services and Bulk Boys Marine Services.
The newly formed Venture has commenced servicing container, multi-purpose, bulk, and breakbulk vessels at Grindrod’s multi-purpose terminals in Maydon Wharf, Durban, and Richards Bay with the aim to expand this service to all ports in South Africa, Namibia, and Mozambique.

From its first day, VSS established a reputation for developing simple, innovative solutions to common problems, streamlining performance and improving efficiency. VSS primary aim is to turn ships around in the shortest time possible to minimize costs for shippers and carriers.
However, safety is also op paramount concern and therefore the company has implemented a SHEQ management system to guide and instruct employees of how work is to be carried out.
All employees are trained on how to adhere to the OHS and SAMSA regulations and requirement in and off customer’s premises. All our staffs are trained in line with our Customer requirements and our Standard Operating Procedures in line with our Risk Assessment’s identified by our SHEQ Department.
The Company’s motto is: “No job or task is that important that we cannot take the time to do it safely”.
